The puy de la vache
The Puy de la Vache reaches a height of 1,167 metres. Its main lava flow, together with that of the Puy de Lassolas, is known as the Cheire d'Aydat. By blocking off valleys, it created various lakes including the Etang de la Cassière to the north and the Lac d'Aydat to the south in the Veyre valley. These 8,000 year old volcanoes are the most recently-formed of their kind in the Chaîne des Puys.
